BAND BIO
Eck’s Men is a high energy Rock & Roll band that formed three years ago. Their debut CD entitled WHO KNEW?!?!?, was released in August 2020 and was produced by Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Bash & Pop, Guns N’ Roses).
WHO KNEW?!?!? indeed! WHO KNEW that Drew Eckmann (lead vocalist), who has no formal musical training and, before three years ago had never been in a band, could be such a dynamic frontman? WHO KNEW that fellow musicians Rick Norman (guitar & backing vocals), Roger Astudillo (bass & backing vocals) and Dennis Vallone (drums & backing vocals) could all come together with Drew and produce such a forceful and tight unit in such a short time? WHO KNEW they would rapidly move from a cover band to doing all originals after only one year. One year ago Tom Wise entered picture as sax man for the band.
WHO KNEW that Drew, who does not now an Am chord from any other chord would be able to develop melodies and lyrics and then along with the rest of the band turn his ideas into the collection of songs on this album. WHO KNEW that Drew could hum his melodies to Roger and Rick and they would add the chords, solos, & riffs along with Dennis adding the dynamic drum components, to turn out 3 minute Pop Songs!
WHO KNEW the band would be playing some of the top clubs on the east coast including; Bowery Electric - NYC, The Turning Point - Piermont, NY, The Stone Pony - Asbury Park, The Saint - Asbury Park, Coney Island Baby - NYC, and Club Helsinki - Hudson, NY? WHO KNEW that the band would be opening shows for Jesse Malin & Palmyra Delran 2 seminal NYC musicians who both have radio shows on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius Radio? WHO KNEW that they would be so impressed and supportive of Eck’s Men that they (along with several other DJ’s on Underground Garage) would be playing songs from the new album? WHO KNEW the band would be doing podcast interviews and have their songs picked up by a station in Philadelphia and at The New Jersey Shore?
WHO KNEW that prior to COVID shutting down live, indoor venues across the country, the band would play a show at the Stone Pony (opening for Jesse Malin) to a packed house of 800 + people and would have the crowd dancing and having a blast?
And lastly, WHO KNEW that this high energy, forceful and fun band could do all this as all the guys are in their mid 60’s? WHO KNEW?!?!?
